There have been fears that AI is responsible for the recent layoffs in the tech sector. However, a recent survey conducted by Gallup has found that lack of awareness about the use of AI is also a reason for some layoffs. The company said that compared to tech workers who are AI literate, those who lack this skill are three times more likely to be laid off. The report was released based on the opinions of 23,000 US workers. The company said that AI is having an impact across all sectors. It found that those who are familiar with AI use are at a lower risk of layoffs. It revealed that the risk of AI for tech workers who only use AI occasionally is 18 percent, which is three times the risk of layoff faced by those who use AI regularly. It said that this difference was also seen in other sectors. It found that the risk of layoffs for those who use AI is 3 percent, while the risk for those who do not use AI is 5 percent.
Many respondents to the survey said they had lost jobs due to organizational changes and cost-cutting measures. The survey also found that AI is behind these changes seen in companies. It is known that many tech companies have laid off employees on a large scale in recent times. Companies that are investing heavily in AI are undertaking layoffs in this order.
