When the subsidy of Rs. 4 per kilo of totapuri was announced, there was joy among the farmers. Leaders and farmers under the leadership of MLA Murali Mohan and Mandal Party President NP Dharani Prasad reached the Bangarupalyam mango market yard. They celebrated by bursting firecrackers. They shouted slogans like “God of mango farmers.. Chandrababu Naidu”. They went to the mango mandis with pictures of CM Chandrababu and expressed joy. MLA Murali Mohan said that Chandrababu is the only CM who has supported mango farmers by giving subsidy. He reminded that last year, farmers in Bangarupalyam mandal received a subsidy of Rs. 90 crore. AMC Chairman Bhaskar Naidu, former TDP mandal president NP Jayaprakash, Single Window President Hemachandra Naidu, leaders Koka Prakash Naidu, Janardhan Goud, Kamalanath Reddy, Madhusudhan Naidu, Lokanath Naidu, BC Ravindra Naidu, Arif Basha, Radhakrishna Naidu, Shiva, along with many leaders, activists and farmers participated in this program.

The state government has come to the aid of the Totapuri farmer who was facing a price crisis. Like last year, this time it has announced a subsidy of Rs. 4 per kg. The announcement made by Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu on Thursday evening has caused joy among mango farmers. Totapuri is cultivated in about 2 lakh acres in Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamaya districts. Last year, the yield was 6 lakh tonnes. This time, due to adverse conditions, it is estimated that the yield will be 5 lakh tonnes. With the cost of cultivation per acre ranging from Rs. 30 thousand to Rs. 35 thousand, the farmer will only get the real profit if he sells at least Rs. 9 per kg. In this context, farmers are demanding a price of Rs. 12 to Rs. 16. Factories are paying an average of Rs. 6. There are 44 pulp factories in the three districts, and all but four are working. 28 out of 31 factories in Chittoor district have started processing. 80 percent of these factories put up boards outside and are paying Rs. 6 per kg. Only another 20 percent of factories are paying Rs. 5. Including the subsidy, the farmer will get a total of Rs. 10 per kg. This will provide a lot of relief to the farmers. Farmers who go to the ramps to get their bills paid quickly are only getting Rs. 3 to Rs. 4. This time, the horticulture department officials are estimating that the yield will be around 5 lakh tonnes. This time, the government has been a bit late in announcing the subsidy. Farmers have already sold around one lakh tonnes of the fruit. Officials have to collect the details of the farmers at the respective factories and ramps so that the sellers get the subsidy. This time, the harvest is likely to continue till the first week of August. The details of the remaining 4 lakh tonnes will be collected by the staff at the factories and ramps, just like last year.

 The central and state governments have deposited Annadata Sukhibhav and PM Kisan funds in the accounts of farmers in the district. A total of Rs. 117.61 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 1,78,385 people at the rate of Rs. 7 thousand per farmer. For the financial year 2026-27, Rs. 89.19 crore has been released in the first installment of Rs. 5 thousand under Annadata Sukhibhav and Rs. 2 thousand under PM Kisan in the 23rd installment, Rs. 28.42 crore has been released to 1,42,109 people. Constituency-wise, Rs.7.46 crore was deposited in Chittoor for 11,321 farmers, Rs.22.54 crore in Puthalapattu for 33,881 people, Rs.25.45 crore in Palamaneru for 38,368 people, Rs.23.36 crore in Kuppam for 36,473 people, Rs.8.27 crore in Nagari for 12,472 people, Rs.23.94 crore in GD Nellore for 36,047 people, and Rs.6.56 crore in Punganur for 9823 people.  Local farmers participated in the programs organized in the constituency-wise manner. Collector Sumit Kumar, MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan and Agriculture Department officials JD Murali participated in the program organized at the ZP conference hall for Chittoor constituency. He said that the government is giving top priority to farmer welfare. He said that the government is announcing necessary subsidies and incentives for all horticultural crops and ensuring that farmers do not suffer. Chuda Chairperson Katari Hemalatha, TDP leaders Venkatesh, Surendra, Gudipala MPP Hariprasad, Chittoor Town Bank Chairman Ramesh Naidu, Prabhu, Naresh, Subramaniam, and farmers participated. Meanwhile, in the meeting held in Byreddypalle regarding Palamaneru constituency, MLA Amaranath Reddy, MLA Murali Mohan in Puthalapattu constituency, TDP in-charge Challababu in Pulicherr in Punganur constituency, GD Nellore constituency market committee members, APSRTC Vice Chairman PS Muniratnam in Kuppam constituency, and PKM UDAH Chairman Suresh participated.

Collector Venkateswar and Nagari MLA Gali Bhanuprakash advised farmers to cultivate crops according to market needs. They handed over Annadata Sukhibhav-PM Kisan financial assistance checks to farmers on Saturday at the Vadamalapet Mandal Parishad office premises. Speaking on the occasion, they said that in the wake of scientists warning that there is a possibility of rain deficit this year, farmers should be careful in water consumption and cultivate crops as per the instructions of the Agriculture Department. Farmers should not be limited to traditional crops but should focus on cultivating commercial and horticultural crops according to market needs. He said that farmers especially near urban areas have the opportunity to earn more income by cultivating commercial crops such as vegetables, flower gardens and fruit gardens. He suggested that steps should be taken towards natural farming and said that natural farming methods can be used to achieve better yields with less cost. District Agriculture Officer Prasad Rao said that funds worth about Rs. 111 crore will be deposited in the accounts of 1,65,689 farmers across the district under Annadata Sukhibhavwa-PM Kisan. ADAs Lakshmi Devi, Kavitha, Agriculture Officer Vijayakumar, TDP leaders Muralidhar Reddy, Damu Yadav, Dhananjayulu Naidu and others participated.

When the monsoon season arrives, farmers are seen busy sowing groundnuts in the villages. Even though a week has passed since this monsoon season arrived, there is no sign of farmers in the fields anywhere in the district. It has been eight days since the southwest monsoon, which crossed the state of Kerala, reached the district, but there has been no rain except for one day.The southwest monsoon, delayed by a week due to a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, hit the state of Kerala on the 7th of this month. It moved for four days from there and hit Chittoor and Annamaya districts on the 11th of this month. This caused clouds and drizzle in many places, raising hopes that the monsoon season would arrive. But as expected by the Meteorological Department, whether due to the El Nino effect or not, the rains have taken a backseat. While it rained only last Friday across the district, not a single drop has fallen for five days. There is no sign of rain in the weather. Farmers believe that sowing groundnuts in the Mrigashira Karte will yield good yields. It is known that Rohini Karte left on the 8th of this month and Mrigashira Karte arrived. In this sequence, they dreamed that the rains would fall and the farmers would be busy in the fields preparing groundnut seeds. But whether it is the effect of El Nino or not, there is no sign of the southwest monsoon. The fields are drying up due to the lack of rain, so the farmers are waiting for rain. If it does not rain in another week or ten days, they will have to plow the fields again. The district has prepared the ground for the distribution of subsidized peanut seeds to farmers under the auspices of the Agriculture Department. This time, the normal cultivation of peanut for Kharif has been decided at 27,016 hectares for 25 mandals. For this, 36,480 quintals of subsidized peanut seeds have been allocated to the farmers. Of this, 13,780 quintals of K-6 variety, 13,280 quintals of Narayani, and 9,400 quintals of TCGS variety have been prepared. Already, up to 30 percent of the seeds have reached the Rythu Seva Kendras in many mandals. Distribution has also started in some mandals. Farmers are peeling the seeds and preparing them for sowing.

Tomato prices in the Palamaneru market are reminiscent of the bullion market. A week ago, a 15 kg box increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 350 and gradually decreased. On the 19th, it was Rs. 200. On the 20th, it fell to Rs. 150- Rs. 170. On Sunday, it increased slightly to Rs. 220. This is causing concern among tomato farmers. It seems that due to the intermittent rains, tomatoes in the gardens have suddenly rotted and are being transported to the market in large quantities, causing prices to fall. Another reason is that traders are not buying them as the tomatoes that have rotted due to the rains are getting crushed while being transported to distant places. Farmers here say that a box of tomatoes in Nangli in the neighboring state of Karnataka was sold for Rs. 300 on Sunday and Rs. 50 per box in Madanapalle. Mandi traders and tomato farmers in Palamaneru market protested on Sunday over market problems. Market Committee Chairman Rajanna immediately responded and met the farmers. They demanded that a digital board displaying tomato prices be installed in a public place in every mandi and that the traffic problem in the market be resolved. Rajanna assured that the farmers’ problems would be resolved within a week

The ‘Ryatanna.. For You’ program will be conducted across the state from Monday until the 27th of this month with the objective of strengthening farmers’ awareness and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. As part of this extensive outreach initiative, Agriculture Department officials and field staff will visit farmers door to door, providing valuable guidance on the effects of El Niño on agriculture, precautionary measures to minimize crop losses, suitable crop selection based on prevailing climatic conditions, and the proper purchase and scientific use of fertilizers. During these interactions, officials will educate farmers about the Pancha Sutras of Agriculture, which focus on water security, demand-driven crop cultivation, adoption of modern agri-technologies, food processing and value addition, and effective utilization of government support schemes. The program aims to equip farmers with practical knowledge that can improve productivity, reduce risks, and enhance income opportunities. To ensure that critical information reaches every farming household, informative pamphlets covering these key agricultural topics will be distributed to approximately 46.85 lakh farmers through the network of 8,451 Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) spread across 666 mandals. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering farmers with timely information, technological support, and sustainable farming practices for better agricultural outcomes.
