Punganur CI Subbarayudu said that six members of a gang who cheated a person from Secunderabad, Telangana state, and took away Rs. 50 thousand through rice pulling have been arrested. Rajuluru, Durgasamudram Panchayat, Chaudepalle Mandal, his friend Munindra, and Syed Adambasha, son of Ismail of Punganur, together informed Surya Venkataratnam (45), son of Nagappa of Secunderabad that they had a rice pulling vessel of Mahimagala. On the 7th of this month, Reddeppa, Munindra, Adambhasha, Nagireddy (66) of Vijayalakshmipuram in Bapatla district, Thota Arudraiah (47) of Karvetinagaram, Kavali Mahesh (38) son of Parandhamiah of Marepalli Harijanawada in Vedurukuppam mandal, and Nandyala Sanjeevaiah (55) son of Yesuratnam of Kadirivaripalle in Erraguntla mandal in Kadapa district, along with Adambhasha, summoned Surya Venkataratnam to Chadalla in Punganur mandal.  They showed him a copper vessel. As per the plan, when the vessel was shown, it was made to look like the rice was spoiled. Surya Venkataratnam realized that they were cheating. Noticing this, the gang members threatened him and took Rs. 50,000. The victim filed a complaint with the police and a case was registered. Nagireddy, Arudraiah, Mahesh Kumar, Syed Adambasha, S. Reddeppa and Sanjeevaiah, who were at UNR Circle on Punganur Bypass Road, were arrested and questioned and confessed to the crime. Rs. 39,000 in cash was seized from them. On Monday, the accused were produced before the judge in Punganur court and ordered to be remanded for 14 days. The CI said that another accused in the case, Munindra, is absconding. SIs KV. The Madanapalle Two Town police have busted a gang selling fake gold. DSP Pavani disclosed the details to the media at the local DSP office on Friday. R. Charan, his relatives M. Vinodkumar, M. Rookjan alias Roopjan, R. Pandi of Jaynagar Colony, Palempalle Panchayat, Punganur Mandal, and R. Mallanna, S. Chalapathi, and R. Krishnababu of Shikaripalem, Tatiguntapalle Panchayat, Veeraballi Mandal were involved in the business of beads and plastic garlands in the villages. All of them, accustomed to luxury, started cheating people by promising to give them gold at a low price with the intention of making easy money. Recently, a Hyderabad-based man called Venkatesh and said that he was selling gold for Rs. 7 lakh per kilo as he needed money urgently. He came to Annamayya Circle in Madanapalle on the 17th of this month along with three other relatives. The accused brought 2,800 grams of fake gold beads to the circle in a car. They showed it to Venkatesh. When he turned around and said it was fake gold, they threatened him with knives and snatched Rs. 5,000 from his shirt pocket. The victim informed the Two Town police, who reached there. The accused, seeing the police, chased them and caught them near Ramasamudram. They were taken to the station and questioned, but the case was closed. Seven accused were arrested on Friday and remanded. The fake beads, a car and three knives worth Rs. 40 lakh were seized. The police said that another accused is absconding. Meanwhile, they said that there are two cases against Pandi in Madanapalle taluka and Veeraballi police stations. The DSP congratulated Two Town CI Mahmud Rafi, SI Ramanjaneyulu and the staff for their efforts in solving the case.

The accused have been identified as Godwin Moss (33), his followers Murugan (37) and Vignesh (26) from Vaniyambadi, Tamil Nadu. He said that several cases have been registered against them in Andhra and Tamil Nadu states. He said that a case has been registered against them under various sections and they have been sent to remand. The DSP commended the police teams that cracked the case and seized the property and presented them with a cash reward.
